It is very important that you register your Inspire as soon as you receive it. This is because, first time registration will set the time on your device and will delete all previous steps in the device.

Activating the INSPIRE

Press and hold down the button to activate the Inspire. The progress bar will change from empty to full to indicate full activation as below.
Your Inspire will not arrive fully charged.

Install the PC software at: https://members.walkingspree.com/clientapp/17472

The Inspire is compatible with PC's. It will work on Windows XP (Service Pack 3), Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. There will be an iPhone App available mid April that is compatible with iPhone 4S and above.

It can take several seconds for some computer driver's to be installed and detected. Looking in the lower right taskbar should show the driver process.

Now, log into your Walkingspree account to ensure your steps are showing. It can take up to 10 minutes before your steps will show on your account.
You must be within 20 feet of the dongle. The dongle sends out a signal every 10 minutes, so you must be within range of the dongle at some point during that 10 minute span.

Not having a Mac version of the software is going to be a problem. Please note that Mac computers are outselling Windows PC's -- they're the only computers that are enjoying a growth market -- and it is short sighted not to support them.

Thanks for your feedback Jerry. Most Mac users have iPhones and we will be releasing our iPhone app on April 1st that most Mac users can use to sync their device. We may evaluate a desktop Mac version if there is enough demand within our client base, but in the meantime the iPhone app should serve well.

How do I change the stride setting in the Inspire? I have been using both the Omron, with which I could set the stride value, and the Inspire at the same time, and the Inspire seems to be counting a little over a thousand less steps then the Omron. I like the Inspire belt clip over the Omron, however, if the Inspire is going to give an inaccurate step count I will just go back to the Omron pedometer.

Hi Ronald, stride length in the device does not impact steps. It only impacts distance. The stride length is pulled in from your Walkingspree account. You need to verify your height is correct under My Account in Walkingspree. The stride length is an estimated calculation of 40% of your height. It is not possible to change it in the INSPIRE for varying paces like it was done with the Omron. All new Activity Trackers now work this way.

The HJ720 is an older dual sensor pedometer and is accurate for walking but is not able to pick up nuances for other activities such as running, using an elliptical and other non standard movements, ie. it did not pick up the movements of housework as easily, something many members used to complain about.  On the flip side, it also picked up fidgeting/random movements and could over count some activities. Whereas the INSPIRE is an activity tracker that uses triaxial technology which is more sensitive to movement. One measures steps, whereas the other measures all movement based activity.

Sajid - your issue was resolved, see your ticket from us. Most people will find that it just takes a few minutes for the bluetooth dongle to be detected and so it's best to wait 2-3 minutes before trying again. http://support.walkingspree.com/entries/26055090-Inspire-Troublesho...

How about an ANDROID version!?!?!?!

I, too, have noticed a significant difference in the number of steps counted from my original Omron and my new Inspire. Today, I ran a ton of errands and walked a lot, wearing both pedometers to test the accuracy. The Omron counted 5750 steps, and the Inspire counted 3123. I could understand a few hundred steps difference, but not almost a 50% difference.

Some users have noticed a difference in steps with their old OMRON HJ720 and their new Walkingspree INSPIRE. Let us explain why.

The HJ720 is an older, dual-sensor pedometer and is accurate for walking but not able to pick up data for other activities such as running, using an elliptical and other non-standard movements like housework. On the flip side, it tended to over count activities such as fidgeting. INSPIRE is an activity tracker that uses triaxial technology, making it more sensitive to movement.

Placement of the INSPIRE on the arm versus on the waist also accounts for some step variation. Use of the wristband is recommended for activities that use more arm movement than leg movement like tennis, weight lifting, housework, elliptical workouts, and more. If you are a person that uses your arms a lot expressively, in conversation then you may want to use the clip on your waist or put INSPIRE in your pocket. Experiment with what works best for you!
